Tournament Calendar

2025-2026

Debaters can earn points to qualify for the NYPDL Championship at all of the tournaments listed below except for the NPDL Tournament of Champions.  Please view our Rankings and Championship page for more information.

All NYPDL tournaments will be open to novice and varsity debaters!

Harvard College Debating Union Season Opener

August 30-31: Online

$1000 cash prize for the winning team! Although this is not an NYPDL tournament, many debaters in the league participate! Additionally, it does count towards rankings.

NYPDL September Invitational

September 6-7: Online
September 27-28: In-Person

NYPDL September In-Person was held at Friends Seminary.

Yale University
Invitational 

September 20-21: Online

Although this is not an NYPDL tournament, many debaters in the league participate! Additionally, it does count towards rankings. 

NYPDL October Invitational

October 18-19: Virtual
October 25-26: Online

Due to unforeseen circumstances, October In-Person has now been moved online and renamed as "virtual" to avoid any confusion with the NYPDL October Online Tournament.

NYPDL November Invitational

November 8-9: California In-Person
November 15-16: In-Person
November 22-23: Online

NYPDL November will be held at
Rye County Day;
The California In-Person Invitational will be held at Menlo-Atherton.

NYPDL December Invitational

December 6-7: Online

NYPDL December will be held online.

The Ridge Debates

December 12-14:
Ridge High School (NJ)

Although this is not an NYPDL tournament, many in the league participate!

NYPDL January
Invitational

January 10-11: Online
January 17-18: In-Person (moved online)

NYPDL January In-Person was moved online and renamed to "NYPDL January."

Berkeley High School Invitational

January 31 - February 1

Although this is not an NYPDL tournament, we encourage you to participate! There will be novice, JV and varsity divisions.

Invitational

February 7-8: In-Person
February 14-15: Online
February 28 - March 1st: In-Person 

NYPDL February In-Person will be at Brooklyn Technical High School on the 7th & 8th.
NYPDL Friends February In-Person will be at Friends Seminary on the 28th and 1st.

NYPDL March Invitational

March 14-15: Online
March 28-29: In Person

NYPDL March In-Person will be at
Bard HS Early College Queens.

NPDL Tournament of Champions

April 10 -12

NPDL TOC is one of the most prestigious tournaments of the year. Performance at TOC is not counted towards NYPDL Rankings.

April 25-26: Online

NYPDL April In-Person will be at Brooklyn Technical High School on the 18th-19th

NPDL Spring

May 8 - 10

NPDL Spring is an online national tournament hosted by the National Parliamentary Debate League. 

NYPDL Championship

May 16-17: Online

The NYPDL Championship is the finale of the NYPDL season.
